Life in the NSISP

Testimonials

Chikako, Japan

I am really happy about the decision I made to come to Canada, from Japan.

Canada has the kindest and gentlest people in the world to accept different nationalities. I go to high school in Nova Scotia and all students, teachers and my host family accept me just like childhood friends.

I came here to study, but I also learned how to accept people who have different backgrounds and how important it is to do that.

I feel really comfortable being here and have had a wonderful experience.

Il Mun, Korea

I am sung Il Mun. I am 17 years old. I would say Canada is an excellent country. If you want to learn English and make good memories just come to Canada.

Here people are so kind and they will help you if you have some problems with English or something else. I live in Nova Scotia, in the Valley and I am going to Central Kings Rural High School.

I have two good Canadian brothers and one Canadian sister and they are like my real family. I think it is the best choice to come to Canada as an international students. I love it here

Annika, Germany

I was here in Nova Scotia for five months. I came here to get to know a beautiful province.

I never heard of this place in Canada before I decided to come here. I didn’t know what to expect of the people, the landscape and the Canadian life, but I found a beautiful place to live, very friendly and nice people and I had the best five months in my life.

Thank you for everything because I know that I learned a lot and it is worth it to come to Nova Scotia.

Kevin, Taiwan

When I first got here, all I could say was ‘wow’. In Amherst, people are so nice and friendly, I got a lot of help from people, not only in school but also in the community.

My host parents are so nice to me all the time, I hang with my Canadian friends and they treat me as one too! My English skills got better and better everyday by talking with these nice people.

If you have a hard time during your studies, your teachers and your classmates are always happy to give you a hand. I will never forget this. I love it here!

Dhadsapong, Thailand

If you need any help and feel nervous when you come to Canada, don’t worry this is a great program.

There are hundred’s of experiences like apple picking, boat cruises, trips, barbeque parties and more.

You don’t have to try and find fun things; they just happen by being an International Student.

Laura, Columbia

I think Richmond Academy is a great school. The students are very friendly and eager to know about Colombia. The principal is great and checked on me regularly to make sure I was happy.

The teachers were very kind and always asked if I understood. It was great.

Felipe, Brazil

To be an international student was the best experience in all my life!

I made lots of wonderful friends, I learned a new culture, I improved my English a lot... I can keep writing about the good things that happened to me and fill this page, but I prefer for you to wait and be an exchange student and find out!

To talk about the school, the school here is perfect, everybody is very nice, very friendly, and the teachers always help us if we have any problems.

I am so thankful, because I had the opportunity to do this wonderful experience!

Claudina, Mexico

When I arrived to Shelburne the first time I was a little confused.I came from a big city with over a million people. I was used to the traffic, the noise, big malls, big parties, big everything.

I thought it would be hard to like Shelburne since my hometown is so different but as soon as the classes started I began to know lots of people, and everyone seemed to be happy just for the fact that you are talking to them.People are what makes Shelburne so special.

During the year it felt like home. I was learning a lot of things: a new culture, a new language, a new family. I didn't make only friends, I made brothers and sisters. They made me feel special and loved.
